Detroit artist’s gallery “Still Searching” opens in our building
Charles McGee’s art gallery “Still Searching” opened yesterday on the first floor of our office building at 1505 Woodward Ave. McGee is a 92-year-old Detroit artist with an impressive 70-year art career.
We are fortunate enough to be located right upstairs from the gallery and right down the street from his mural, UNITY, on the side of 28Grand. We got to watch the mural go up over the last week and made this awesome time lapse shot of the progress.
The gallery features a brilliant mix of 2D and 3D art – from photography to sculptures – and the opening event boasted a packed house. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the space allow everyone walking by a front row seat to the artwork.
It’s inspiring to be around so many beautiful art installations, and being able to watch as new ones arise. Just as we’re bringing cutting-edge technology to the city, artists like McGee are keeping the city’s art scene alive and thriving with new additions.
You can find more information about Charles McGee and his gallery here. Be sure to make some time to come and see his artwork, and maybe even pop up to our office and say hello!
