SXSW Showcases Fiber and Detroit Innovation
The Rocket Fiber team traveled to Austin, Texas for one of the biggest events of the year, SXSW.
South by Southwest is best known for its nine long days of conferences, events, panel discussions and music festivals. The event describes itself as “an opportunity for global professionals at every level to participate, learn, and network”. It is an essential destination for technology innovators. We especially loved how fiber and connectivity were integrated into the art, the music and the city as a whole.
“Diversity of people and places represented made the conference an incredible platform as well as source for inspiration. In any space, we always look to share our work and love for Detroit with the rest of the world; taking the lessons of our experiences to be discussed with anyone who will lend an ear. SXSW was a perfect venue for us to share our story and meet like-minded partners who can grow our business outside Detroit or bring interesting products to the City that require the support of fiber.” Shared Emily Dabish, Director of Strategic Partnerships for Rocket Fiber.
The conversations at SXSW confirmed that urbanists and futurists will increasingly rely on the capabilities of fiber. Whether it was conversations concerning ubiquitous connectivity required for access to services, net neutrality, autonomous vehicles or Smart City deployments—the need for future-proofed networks permeated panels and fireside chats. No matter the variety of platforms or products discussed, fiber consistently played a supporting role.
